What are the Most Popular Associate Degrees

Associate's degrees are degrees which generally take two years to complete, and are available from junior colleges and community colleges, as well as some universities. Although a Bachelor's degree is usually thought of as the first degree available before more advanced degrees like a Master's or a PhD, an Associate's degree (usually an Associate's of Arts, or AA) actually comes first. Also known as a two-year degree, there are many different types of Associate's degrees available. However, some Associate's degrees are more popular than others.

One popular Associate's degree is the Associate's in Art & Design. This degree can help students to obtain jobs in many different types of creative careers. Specific Associate's degrees in this area include Associate's of Arts (AA) in computer graphics, graphic design, fashion design, and web design. All of these degrees are very popular.

Another popular area for Associate's degrees is business. Although many people think of business degrees as either being Bachelor's degrees or a Master's of Business Administration (MBA), it is also possible to obtain an Associate's of Business. The most popular AA degree in this field is in accounting, but Associate's degrees are also available in economics, business administration, and contract management.

Vocational Associate's degrees are also available. These are many vocational degrees which can be an excellent choice for people who only wish to complete two full years of school. Some of these programs include electronics and computer technology, automotive technology, and avionics. Associate's degrees in vocational areas are a great way to begin a career in a particular trade as soon as possible, with adequate training.

Education is another area that is popular for those getting Associate's degrees. While a teaching credential requires a Bachelor's degree plus another year or two of the credential program, an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) is available and popular. This degree is good for preschool teachers as well as child care providers. Students can also get an Associate's degree (AA) in paraprofessional education in order to be instructional assistants or teachers' aids.
