Aerospace Engineering Majors in College

When I was a kid, I always dreamt of flying whether on a plane, spaceship, or even a rocket ship. When people started going to space and landing on the moon, kids soon started dreaming that they could be one of them. Of course, we all have to start somewhere and we always have to learn the basics. Obviously, pilots are the titles given to the people that can fly such as sailors are given to seamen. Fortunately, you do not always need to know how to pilot a space craft in order to fly. Some lucky few are aerospace engineers that fix planes, space crafts and such. And they too started in a good school choosing which good college major they needed to get in. Here are some ideas of few majors you could learn in college to become an aerospace engineer.

Engineering: Of course, we know that you could major in engineering. Though there are many branches such as mechanical, military, agricultural, and even computer engineering to name a few. These are advanced branches or engineering such as doctors that need specializations to be surgeons or neurologists. Though it will take some time before you can become a master in engineering, it takes hard work and dedication to reach your goals and become an aerospace engineer.

Aeronautics: Aeronautics can also be one major in college that can help you become an aerospace engineer. However, not many colleges offer this course and it is very hard to get in. More often than not, they train you with the craft; how to fly it, how to operate it and how to repair it. But that is just the basics with the program. Some military schools provide this education in their colleges but of course, you have to be a soldier first which requires intensive training and hard work. Nevertheless, it would be fun and a great honor serving your country if you are to be a military person.

Aerospace Science: Again, a very difficult course in college and one that is not offered in many schools. This branch of science helps you to study space crafts and how it works. On the practice side, you get to handle aircrafts, test them and repair them to make it work again. On the theory side, you get to build ideas on how to make a better aircraft by putting in armor, weapons, guidance systems or anything required of you.

The given above are just a few branches in college you can choose from but all require hard work, perseverance and a dream; a dream that one day you could see space yourself. Imagine yourself in space floating without gravity, exploring new planets and stars, or simply screaming at the top of your lung thinking if anyone can really not hear you. Aerospace engineering is not only designed for you to fix aircrafts or to fly one, right now, the US military are designing new spacecrafts that can hold more people and can go further than our own solar system. Who knows, one day we might just find a new home and planet which you discovered by your own spacecraft.
